The homeowner reported that the compressor of the indoor coils was not kicking on.
Travis found the compressor was burnt out and would not run even with power running into it. He talked with the homeowner about trying a hard start, though he doubted it would work, and went over compressor replacement options. Since the air handler is original but the condensing unit is not, the homeowner agreed to get a quote to replace the whole unit, and a quote for a 2.5 ton system replacement was being sent. Travis also noted for the install team to cut out the shark bite fitting on the 7/8 suction line outside, right before it enters the condensing unit, and replace it with a brazed joint to reduce the risk of Freon leakage.

He fully programmed and configured both units, then helped the homeowner get set up in their mobile application. The Ecobee smart Wi-Fi-enabled programmable thermostats allow remote management from a smartphone and flexible scheduling.
After installation, Mario tested all operational functions, and both systems performed correctly with no issues detected.

A Raleigh homeowner in the 27608 area reported cooling issues on the second floor. The upstairs AC unit was running but not cooling.
The condenser was receiving the signal but failing to activate because of a tripped breaker, and resetting the breaker caused an immediate trip. Mario found a dead-shorted compressor, and the condenser fan was also non-operational due to open motor windings. He and Aaron traced the electrical damage to a power surge during the previous night's storm. Because of the unit's age and the extensive, unrepairable electrical damage, Mario recommended a full system replacement.

Aaron, Dexter, Mario and Jeorell found that neither cooling system contained refrigerant, with visible oil staining at the indoor evaporator coils indicating significant refrigerant leaks. Further evaluation found compressor damage consistent with systems operating without refrigerant charge. Because of the extent of the leaks, the compressor condition, system age, and overall repair costs, the team highly recommended replacing both systems, noting that continued repair attempts would likely not resolve the cooling issues, especially since one of the systems is under-sized.
