Blower Kept Running With the Thermostat Off in Raleigh

What the customer reported

A Raleigh homeowner in the 27615 area reported that the AC system was not shutting off. They tried turning it off through the thermostat and it was still blowing air.

What we found and did

Jeorell found that the furnace control board was sending voltage when the system was not calling for cool. In the attic furnace, the blower was running with no call from the system. It kept running even after he unwired the low voltage, and it only stopped once he pulled the cool, common, and heat plugs from the board. A new furnace control board was covered under warranty and installed, configured to be used as A2L, with the dip switches set for proper operation.

What Raleigh customers say about our furnace installation work

I chose Element Service Group because they're authorized to service Trane equipment and they've done a great job of keeping our furnace and A/C equipment in tip top shape. After a failure of one of our units, another service provider took that as a moment to convince us to replace the unit. Element stood by the equipment and made only minor repairs to add years of life. Their service personnel are honest and care about the customer. Years later we trusted them to replace that system with an independent Goodman furnace/AC system instead of the pack unit the builder installed, which will solve many of the problems we encountered.

Local conditions

Why quality furnace installation matters in Raleigh

Extreme Summer Heat

Raleigh's hot, humid summers with temperatures often reaching 95°F+ put tremendous stress on HVAC systems. Systems must be properly maintained and sized to handle the extended cooling season from May through September.

Diverse Buildings

The city's diverse neighborhoods from downtown high-rises to suburban homes to historic properties each have unique HVAC needs. Our technicians are experienced with all building types and their specific challenges.

Building Permits

Wake County building codes and city permits have specific requirements for HVAC installations and replacements. We handle all permitting to ensure your system meets local compliance standards.

Urban Heat Island

Urban heat island effects in downtown Raleigh can increase cooling demands by 5-10 degrees compared to surrounding areas. This requires careful system sizing and efficient equipment selection.

FAQ

Furnace Installation in Raleigh: questions answered

Answered by our licensed technicians serving Raleigh.

How much does a new furnace cost in Apex, NC?

A new gas furnace system in Apex starts at $6,650 installed for a small to mid-size home with a standard-efficiency option. Larger homes and your home's requirements can raise that. High-efficiency models cost more upfront but can save 20-30% on heating bills. We provide free in-home estimates with transparent pricing and financing options.

What size furnace do I need for my home?

Furnace size is measured in BTUs and depends on your home's square footage, insulation, ceiling height, and climate. A typical 2,000 sq ft home in the Triangle area needs 60,000-80,000 BTUs. Undersized units run constantly while oversized ones cycle too frequently. We perform a Manual J load calculation to determine the exact size for optimal comfort and efficiency.

How long does furnace installation take?

Most furnace installations are completed in one day, typically 4-8 hours. Complex installations involving ductwork modifications or switching fuel types may take longer. We schedule installations at your convenience and always clean up before leaving.
