A Cary homeowner reported that the heat was not working and only cool air was blowing out, even though the gas service was running because the house still had hot water. The previous resident had taken off the old thermostat, installed a new one, then put the old one back on when they moved.
Jeorell made a call for heat and the system did not come on, and a voltage check showed it was not getting 24v to W. He jumped out R and W and the system came on, then jumped it out at the thermostat as well and the system came on again, pointing to the thermostat as the problem. Jeorell replaced the thermostat and tested operations.
The system was heating at the time of departure.
After the system was cycled and tested following maintenance, it was heating properly and operating as expected.
