Dexter
September 2026
A Knightdale homeowner reported that their air conditioner was not cooling.
Dexter found a bad hard start capacitor. He replaced the part, and because the unit was still under warranty, the visit came to $0 for the homeowner.
Dexter confirmed the system was working properly before he left.
Jeorell & Mario
September 2026
A Knightdale homeowner reported an intermittent indoor fan issue on their outdoor Rheem packaged unit and was concerned about the blower motor.
Jeorell found that the blower motor is failing and will need to be replaced for proper operation. He made a call for cool, and the outdoor fan came on and the system was trying to cool, but the blower was not functioning and was humming. He verified the capacitor, which read 9.8uf against its 10uf rating. Because supply houses were closed due to the time, the estimate for the blower motor replacement was set to be sent the next morning.
Manny & Bernard
August 2026
A Knightdale system in the 27545 area was still having a restriction after earlier work, with ongoing cooling and pressure issues.
Manny and Bernard found the fire damper slammed shut, creating a massive airflow restriction that was likely driving the cooling and pressure issues. They replaced the indoor coil and filter drier. As an interim measure, they secured the fire damper open with zip ties until the maintenance team can order and install the proper replacement clips/links. The next step is to monitor system performance with proper airflow restored and follow up on the fire damper hardware.
Jeorell
August 2026
A Knightdale apartment resident reported the system was not cooling.
Pressures were dropping rapidly on the gauges, reading 16 and 197 psi. Jeorell went to the apartment, made a call for cool, and hooked up gauges. He then went to the leasing office and asked to do a leak search that day, but it was declined due to time, so the system will need to be re-diagnosed on a return visit.
They came out for our biannual HVAC maintenance. Manny was super kind and professional. He noticed that our compressor was going and quoted us or said we can wait until it goes. The price was very reasonable compared to us waiting for the AC to go. Would recommend them

Read articleKnightdale subdivisions like Planters Walk and Poplar Creek Estates built between 2000-2012 have original AC units now 12-20 years old, well past peak efficiency and increasingly prone to compressor failures during hot summers.
Many Knightdale homes in Widewaters and Langston Ridge feature two-story layouts where second-floor bedrooms run 5-8 degrees warmer due to inadequate ductwork design or single-zone systems that cannot balance the load.
Newer Knightdale homes in Mingo Creek and Station at Knightdale are built to modern energy codes with tight envelopes, which can trap moisture indoors and cause the AC to struggle with humidity removal if not properly configured.
Knightdale sits in climate zone 4A where summer humidity regularly exceeds 70%, forcing AC systems to work overtime removing moisture in addition to cooling, shortening equipment lifespan and increasing energy bills.

Most Knightdale homes built during the 2000s boom are now entering the AC replacement window. Systems typically last 12-15 years in our climate zone 4A, so homes in Planters Walk and Poplar Creek Estates are due for evaluation. We recommend a system assessment once your unit hits 10 years.
This is very common in Knightdale two-story homes, especially in Widewaters and Langston Ridge. The issue is usually single-zone systems combined with inadequate return air upstairs. Solutions range from adding a zone control system to installing a ductless mini-split on the second floor.
Duke Energy Progress offers efficiency rebates for qualifying high-SEER AC installations. Combined with federal tax credits for Energy Star systems, Knightdale homeowners can save $500-$2,000 on a new AC. We handle the Duke Energy rebate paperwork for you.
AC replacement in Knightdale ranges from $4,500 to $8,500 depending on system size, efficiency rating, and ductwork needs. Most Knightdale homes need a 3-4 ton system. We provide free estimates with upfront pricing and financing.
