A Hillsborough heat pump was reported to have a reversing valve that had gone out and needed the part replaced.
Travis found that the problem was not the reversing valve but the thermostat. He checked the solenoid and pressures with the valve open and closed, and jumped the wires out to test the reversing valve, which showed it was working properly. He then found a bent pin on the back of the thermostat and bent it back up.
After Travis straightened the bent thermostat pin, the unit started working again.
Nick really knew his stuff and we were impressed. We got a quote for a whole house water system.

Travis is a great guy. He educated me on maintenance and he was very pleasant and kind and you can tell the man has a big heart. I’m very very happy and very, very glad to have met him and also very glad to not be in a 93° house anymore.

Fantastic experience with Element today! Communication was fantastic from start to finish. We booked an appointment for a HVAC inspection/tune up. Cost was very reasonable and was able to get someone out the same week. Before we even booked the appointment, the expectations were set of what the inspection services would include. The day of the appointment we received a text with a picture of our service technician, Dexter Davis. What really impressed me was not only did we get a picture, but the text included a little bit of his professional background and a bit about him personally. Dexter gave us a call to let us know he was on his way out. Everything about my interaction with him was awesome. After he completed his inspection, he showed me pictures of his findings and took the time to explain what they meant and how it could impact the health of our system. He answered all of my questions- had a wealth of knowledge and was realistic on which items needed to be addressed sooner rather than later. I did not feel pressured to buy anything on the spot. He did explain how I could save on repairs by becoming a member and went over benefits of the plan. We received the quote with pictures shortly after he left. I know this is a long review- but I wanted to make sure that I gave Dexter some shout outs for service, professionalism and knowledge. We will do more business with Element!

Read articleHillsborough's tree-lined historic streets and wooded subdivisions generate heavy seasonal debris loads that foul condenser coils and clog air filters more quickly than suburban settings.
Forest Ridge and Beckett's Ridge homes with 20+ year old ductwork may have deteriorating seals, insulation, and connections that leak conditioned air into crawl spaces and attics.
HVAC systems in Hillsborough historic homes often have unique configurations that need technicians experienced with mini-splits, high-velocity systems, and older equipment.

Twice yearly: spring for cooling and fall for heating. Hillsborough's heavy tree cover means condenser coils may need additional cleaning during peak pollen season in March-April. Homes in wooded areas of Forest Ridge may need quarterly filter changes.
Our Hillsborough maintenance visits include thorough condenser coil cleaning, refrigerant check, electrical inspection, drain line clearing, filter replacement, and system performance evaluation. For historic homes, we also inspect specialized equipment like mini-split wall units.
Yes, we service all ductless mini-split brands. Mini-split maintenance includes cleaning wall unit filters and coils, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting condensate drains, and verifying electrical connections. Annual maintenance keeps these systems running efficiently for 20+ years.
Our maintenance plans start at $189/year for two seasonal tune-ups with priority scheduling and repair discounts. This is a fraction of the cost of emergency repairs that preventive maintenance avoids.
